There is actually quite a few feelings I get: excitement, nervousness, anticipation, fear, etc. Probably a lot more but I'm not good at expressing my feelings. I've packed my bag early to make sure I have everything. It's kind of weird to think I will be living out of a backpack over the next 4 months. Hopefully my 5 shirts, 5 underwear and 3 pants hold up or I am SOL. The picture over there (clicky to see a bigger version) is everything I am taking with me. And yes I am taking a sleeping bag since we will be camping in Africa. Sadly the hotels in African cities worry me more than camping in the wilderness. But we'll have to see how that goes. We leave Tucson tomorrow for Tempe where we will be staying in a hotel so we can get to the airport by 5:00 am. Then it's 15 hours of travel (Phoenix -> San Fran -> Tokyo) before the real start of the trip. I will probably be out of communication until early Friday morning which will be evening in Tokyo.I'm not the most eloquent speaker and only marginally better when writing. So I will let Everett Ruess do the talking for me.
